Alan Romero Carreira is a Director in MDD’s Construction Expert Services practice based in Madrid. He specializes in construction disputes, claims analysis, quantum and damages assessment, project advisory, and dispute resolution for complex infrastructure, energy, transportation, and public-private partnership (PPP) projects.

Alan acts as an expert in construction disputes and major infrastructure projects in both international arbitrations, including proceedings conducted under ICC Rules, and in litigation, arbitration, and other dispute resolution processes across Europe and Latin America. His experience includes matters involving delay, cost overruns, productivity, damages quantification, and project performance assessment.

Alan has more than 13 years of experience in the construction and infrastructure sector across Europe and Latin America. Throughout his career, he has held positions including Project Director and Contract Manager at leading infrastructure and concession companies, participating in major transportation, energy, and civil infrastructure projects. He has worked on behalf of both owners and contractors, developing extensive experience in project management, contract administration, commercial management, claims, and risk analysis.

Prior to joining MDD, Alan held senior roles on infrastructure, concession, and EPC projects. This experience has provided him with a deep understanding of the technical, commercial, and contractual issues that arise throughout the lifecycle of complex projects, as well as practical insight into the circumstances that commonly lead to construction claims and disputes.

Alan holds a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Cantabria (Spain) and a Diploma in Finance from the University of Chile. He is a native Spanish speaker and is professionally proficient in English.
