Laura Lagana

Laura joined MDD’s London office in 2024 and is a Manager at the firm.

With over 10 years of experience within the accounting field, her professional practice concentrates primarily on issues related to business interruption, contingent BI & extra expenses, cyber risks, fidelity claims, stock and content losses. She also has catastrophe services experience, having worked on losses arising from COVID-19.

Laura has experience across a broad spectrum of industries including retail, manufacturing, hospitality & tourism, power generation, professional services and IT.

Laura is the Deputy Education Secretary of the London Business Interruption Association (LBIA) and regularly presents the LBIA’s popular online and in-person training session.

She graduated from The University of London in 2003 with a MSc in Computer Science.

Laura is a native German and is fluent in French and Italian.

Guido Nolte

In 2006 Mr Nolte obtained a degree in Business and Economics from The Ruhr University Bochum. After graduating, he spent several years working for a major auditing firm before joining a well-known German firm, specialising in business interruption and stock losses.

In 2013 Mr Nolte became self-employed, working as an independent expert for business interruption and stock losses. In 2016 he obtained certification to become a publicly appointed and sworn expert for business interruption and stock losses.

Mr Nolte speaks German and English and has experience in handling business interruption losses as a joint and consulting expert within framework of the German insurance industry.

He has also lectured on topics relating to business interruption and stock losses.

Mr Nolte works closely with MDD’s London office as a local representative of MDD Düsseldorf.

Marcelo Fazio

Marcelo joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ London, England office in 2000. He is the firm’s Managing Director of Latin American Operations, based out of Ft Lauderdale.

An economic damage quantification specialist – and fluent in English, Portuguese, Spanish, Italian and German – Marcelo has worked on assignments across Europe, North America, Latin America, Africa and the Caribbean.

He has experience in virtually every aspect of forensic accounting. Most notably, he has a wealth of experience with catastrophe services area, including assignments quantifying business interruption losses resulting from hurricanes Isidore, Kenna, Fabian, Ivan, Katrina, Emily, Wilma, Harvey, Maria and Irma, as well as the Chilean earthquake and various floods and landslides across Latin America.

Marcelo has worked on a number of litigation and specialty-line cases in Latin America, including surety, fraud, breach of contract and shareholders disputes.  Furthermore, he has extensive experience in handling contingent business interruption, delay in startup and advanced loss of profits assignments.

Marcelo has had extensive exposure to numerous industries including, but not limited to: steel and basic metals, mining, construction, energy and utilities, oil refining and petrochemical, agribusiness, electronic manufacturing, pharmaceutical, healthcare, hotel and entertainment, retail and wholesale, professional services, transportation and warehousing, and food processing.

He has given numerous industry presentations, seminars and workshops in the U.S., UK, Germany, Switzerland, Mexico, Colombia, Chile and Brazil.

Marcelo graduated from the University of Manchester with a degree in Economics. He is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners.

Katharina Wilson

Katharina joined MDD’s London office in 2009 and is now a Senior Manager at the firm.

Kat specialises in the quantification of damages relating to business interruption, extra expenses/increased costs, fraud, litigation, stock & contents and subrogation.

She has worked across a wide range of industries including power generation and distribution, transportation, chemical manufacturing and telecommunications. Kat gained valuable experience in the area of catastrophe services when she spent over a year in Thailand handling flood related claims with values of up to $200 million.

Kat has experience preparing expert witness reports and has presented on matters relating to power generation and business interruption principles.

Kat is fluent in German and Polish and is also proficient in French. She has a German Diploma in International Management from the University of Applied Sciences in Hof in Germany.

Jared Poole

Jared joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Calgary office in 2012 as a Staff Accountant. He is currently a Senior Manager/Vice President at the firm’s Calgary office.

Jared’s practice area expertise includes business interruption, extra expenses, power generation, oil & gas, fidelity, liability losses, stock & contents and product liability & product recall. He has also been active in the catastrophe services area, quantifying economic damages that occurred as a result of the 2013 Alberta floods, the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires and the 2017 British Columbia wildfires.

Jared has handled assignments across a wide range of industries including agricultureconstruction, entertainment, hotels and resorts, manufacturing, medical and dental practices, oil and gasrestaurants and retail and wholesale.

He is proficient in German and has presented seminars and workshops on the subject of business interruption.

Jared is a graduate of the University of Alberta where he received his Bachelor of Commerce degree, majoring in Accounting.

Reinhard Krestel

Reinhard joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Chicago office in 2000. He is a Partner at the firm.

Reinhard’s practice concentrates on economic damage quantification and accounting investigations related to lost profits, business interruption, physical damages, construction defects & claims, products liability & recall, shareholder disputes and personal injury, wrongful death & wrongful termination matters. Additionally, he has extensive experience in the area of catastrophe services, earned while assessing the economic damages resulting from 9/11, the Gulf Coast hurricanes and the earthquakes and flooding in Japan and Thailand.

Reinhard has worked on assignments of all sizes around the world, in industries such as automotive, chemical production, steel manufacturing, healthcare, hotel, agribusiness, food processing, professional services and retail and wholesale.

He is regularly engaged to provide litigation support and expert witness testimony.

He graduated from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign with a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. 

Markus Heiss

Markus joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 1993. He has been a Partner at the firm’s London, England office since 2002.

Markus has provided economic damage quantification assessments for over 1,000 files in more than 30 countries throughout Europe, the Middle East, Far East, Africa, Australasia and North and South America. His professional practice specializes in matters related to business interruption, lost profits, loss of income, stock and property damage losses, construction defects & claims, fidelity and fraud, often as a result of physical damages, machinery breakdown, natural disasters or contractual and legal disputes. 

He has been engaged on assignments involving retail, wholesale and manufacturing businesses across a wide range of industries including automotive, consumer goods packaging, telecommunications, mining & refiningpower generation, chemicals, petrochemicals, onshore and offshore energy, publishing, pulp and paper and steel.

Fluent in English, Spanish and German (mother tongue), Markus has provided expert witness testimony both in the UK and Europe.

He has conducted seminars and workshops in the UK, Europe and Dubai.

Markus graduated from Munich University as a ‘Diplom-Kaufmann’ in Business, Accounting, Tax and Law.
