Katie (Soer) Edwards

Katie specializes in areas such as surety and fidelity claims, funds control administration, personal injury, litigation services, lost profits, extra expense/increased costs, and divorce and marital disputes.

Her industry experience includes construction, real estate development, healthcare, manufacturing, and retail.

Before joining MDD, Katie was an assistant vice president of accounting for a real estate developer, where she managed a team of accountants and over $2 billion in assets.

She has presented on various topics related to bond and surety claims.

Katie graduated from Benedictine College with a bachelor’s in Accounting, a Bachelor’s in Business Administration (Finance), a Bachelor’s in Religious Studies, as well as graduating from St. Meinrad Seminary and School of Theology with a Master of Theological Studies.

Francis Gagne

Francis is a Senior Manager/Vice President at MDD Forensic Accountants’ Montreal office. He first joined the firm’s Vancouver office in 2007 as a Staff Accountant.

With over 15 years of forensic accounting experience, Francis’ expertise includes economic damage quantification for matters related to business income losses, stock and content losses, product liability and recall, commercial disputes, and catastrophe services.

He has worked on assignments across Canada, the USA, Australia, New Zealand, and South East Asia. He has been involved in engagements that span various industries, including hospitality, manufacturing, retail, electronics, pharmaceuticals, and construction.

Francis has qualified as an expert witness and has provided testimony in the Superior Court of Quebec.

He is proficient in English and French and has conducted numerous seminars and workshops on the quantification of insurance losses in Quebec.

Francis graduated from Bishop’s University, receiving a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting & Finance. He also holds a Chartered Professional Accountant Designation and is Certified in Financial Forensics.

Marnie Silver

Marnie is a Director at MDD Forensic Accountants’ Toronto office. Previously she was a Vice President at a business valuation firm in Toronto and led the valuation practice at a mid-size firm for over a decade.

With over 20 years of experience in forensic accounting and business valuation, her expertise includes litigation accounting and quantification of damages concerning breach of contract, business interruption, expropriation, shareholder oppression and family law.

Marnie’s key practice areas involve the preparation of business valuations for shareholder disputes, estate planning, shareholder oppression, and family law matters. Her family law experience also includes determining income for child and spousal support purposes. In addition, Marnie also performs critical analysis and commentary of reports prepared by other experts.

Marnie has worked on a broad range of engagements across Canada, spanning various industries, including manufacturing, software and technology development, communication and media, pharmaceutical, automobile, retail, professional practices, and service firms.

She has been qualified as an expert witness and has provided testimony in the Ontario Superior court at trial and mediation proceedings. She has prepared or assisted in the preparation of numerous expert reports.

Marnie has conducted numerous seminars and workshops on the subject of business valuations.

She graduated from the University of Western Ontario, where she received a Bachelor of Arts degree. She has a Masters of Business Administration from York University. Marnie also holds a Chartered Professional Accountant, Chartered Business Valuator, and Accredited Business Valuator Designations and is Certified in Financial Forensics by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Jason Roth

Jason joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 2021 and is Manager in the firm’s Atlanta office.

His expertise focuses on matters related to business valuations, business disputes & shareholder disputes, business interruption, divorce & marital disputes, lost profits and personal injury & wrongful death.

He has also worked across a range of sectors including construction, financial services, hospitality & tourism, maritime and healthcare.

Jason graduated from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science degree with a double major in Finance & Jewish Studies as well as a Masters in Accounting.

Todd Jameson

Todd joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 2007. He is a Manager in the firm’s Orlando office.

As an experienced forensic accounting professional, Todd performs economic damage quantification in areas such as business interruption, extra expenses/increased costs, lost profits, fidelity claims, physical damages, stock & content loss, and fraud & investigations. In addition, he has extensive experience in the catastrophe services area, having worked on losses resulting from hurricane’s Irma, Harvey,  Matthew and Michael.

Todd has worked on assignments that have ranged from $500 to in excess of $20 million. His industry experience has spanned a wide range of sectors including food services, manufacturing, retail, automotive, sports, entertainment & the arts, hospitality & tourism, and apartment complexes.

Todd currently serves as Treasurer for The Florida Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention. He is also a finance committee member at the Episcopal Church of the Resurrection.

Todd is a graduate of Florida State University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting & Finance.

James Harrington

Jim joined MDD’s Detroit office in 2018 as a Senior Manager. He is now a Director at the firm.

He has over 20 years of experience providing expert damages and causation analysis. He has provided expert analysis in matters related to intellectual property disputes, licensing disputes, fraud investigations, mutual fund analysis and securities disputes, claims for increased costs, business interruption loss, business valuation, accounting investigations, breach of contract and other commercial disputes.

Jim has extensive experience on intellectual property assignments including patent infringement matters, trademark infringement, trade secrets and other intellectual property claims involving lost profits, price erosion, reasonable royalty, pre-judgment and post judgment interest calculations.

He has provided expert testimony in matters pending in state court, federal court and arbitration forums.

Jim brings considerable expertise across several industries, including agriculture, automotive, chemicals, computers, construction, consumer products, electronics, food service, manufacturingretail, securities, software, surgical/medical equipment and telecommunications.

Jim graduated with Honors from Oakland University with a Bachelor of Science, Accounting degree.

Conor Paxton

Conor joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 2013. He is a Senior Manager/Vice President at the firm’s Kingston office.

Conor has been involved in several investigations involving the quantification of economic damages in insurance and litigation matters. These assignments have been related to business interruption, extra expenses/increased costs, expropriation, fidelity, surety, downtime losses, lost profits, stock & contents, accident benefits, business valuations and personal injury & wrongful death matters.

He has vast experience in the retail and wholesale, agricultural, manufacturing, restaurants, power generation, residential and commercial rental properties, hotel and hospitality, professional practices and healthcare sectors.

Conor has presented numerous seminars and workshops to insurance and legal professionals on topics such as business interruption, accident benefits, fraud investigations, basics of financial statements and pecuniary claims/damage analysis.

He received his Bachelor of Arts (Honours), Economics and Accounting from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Brad Wilcott

Brad joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 2013. He is a Senior Manager/Vice President at the firm’s Halifax office.

Brad’s forensic accounting practice specializes in matters related to business interruption, extra expenses/increased costs, fraud, stock & contents and lost profits.

He has worked on assignments in the following sectors: retail and wholesale, manufacturing, restaurants, hotels and hospitality, maritime, fisheries and professional services.

Brad has presented seminars to insurance professionals on the subjects of business interruption and stock & contents losses.

He received both his Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting and Masters of Business Administration degrees from Saint Mary’s University in Halifax, Nova Scotia.

 

Dean Das

Dean is a Partner/Senior Vice President in MDD Forensic Accountants’ Calgary office, where he specializes in providing disputes analysis, quantification of economic losses, valuations, forensic accounting and litigation support work.

Dean’s professional practice focuses on matters arising from a wide range of disputes which include breach of contract, shareholder disputes, matrimonial disputes, misrepresentation/ negligence (and other civil torts), and expropriations.

He has participated in assignments in a broad spectrum of industries such as oil and gas, power generation and distribution, agriculture, commercial real-estate, retail, wholesale, construction, hotels and resorts, restaurants, pharmaceuticals, financial services and manufacturing.

Dean has qualified as an expert witness and is experienced in providing testimony in that capacity for the Court of King’s Bench, Alberta. Dean has also been involved with numerous arbitrations and mediations.

Dean regularly conducts seminars and workshops on the topics of business valuation, quantification of economic losses, guideline income calculations, and financial statement preparation and accounting.

He earned his Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University’s DeGroote School of Business.

Adam Frank

Adam joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 2005. He is a Senior Manager at the firm’s Orlando, Florida office.

A forensic accountant with strong analytical skills, Adam focuses on the quantification of economic damages for matters related to business interruption, extra expenses/increased costs, fidelity claims, fraud and investigations, lost profits, stock & contents, physical damages and builders’ risk & soft costs. He also provides litigation accounting services to clients and has vast experience in the area of catastrophe services, having worked on assignments resulting from the Chile, Haiti and New Zealand earthquakes, hurricanes Jeanne, Katrina, Wilma, Charley and Frances and the Thailand floods.

Adam has been engaged across a wide range of industries including agriculture, aquaculture, automotive, aviation, banking, call centers, casinos, commercial construction, food processing and distribution, furniture, golf courses, government entities, hospitals and medical facilities, hotels and resorts, pharmaceuticals, printing, professional services, telecommunications, retail and wholesale, restaurant and utilities.

Adam has presented seminars and workshops on business interruption, extra expenses and fraud.

He received his Master of Science in Accounting (MSA) degree from the University of Central Florida. He also earned his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration in Accounting from the same institution.

 

Amanda Henderson

Amanda is a Senior Manager/Vice President at MDD Forensic Accountants’ Hamilton office.

Amanda has a wealth of experience in forensic accounting and damage quantification. She specializes in accident benefits for employed and self-employed individuals, personal injury and wrongful death, business interruption, stock & contents and fidelity claims.

Amanda has a wide range of industry experience and has worked in the retail and wholesale, healthcare, real estate, restaurant, agriculture and hotel and hospitality sectors. In addition, she has been engaged on assignments related to business owners such as contractors, tradespeople, taxi drivers and teaching professionals.

Amanda has conducted and participated in numerous seminars and workshops on a variety of topics.

She earned her Honours Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University.

Sheri Gallant

Sheri joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Toronto office in 1990 as a co-op education student. She became a Partner in 2003, and in 2005, she opened the firm’s London, Ontario office, where she is now a Partner/Senior Vice President.

Sheri specializes in economic damage calculations, forensic investigations, and litigation support with over 30 years of experience in financial advisory services. Her work relates to a broad range of practice areas, including accident benefits, business disputes, business interruption, construction disputes, cyber losses,  loss of profits, products liability & recallstock & contents, and personal injury.  These assignments reflect various industries, including retail and wholesale, manufacturing and processing, power generation, transportation, and consulting.

Sheri is known across Canada as an expert in quantifying agriculture losses. Clients rely on her expertise for livestock claims involving poultry, hogs, cattle, and dairy and her significant experience with greenhouse crops. Sheri’s skill set has expanded due to Canada fully legalizing the cultivation, processing, sale, and possession of Cannabis at the federal level in 2018.

Sheri has extensive catastrophe services experience. She has provided objective economic assessments for claims related to the 1998 Ontario ice storm, the 9/11 terrorist attack, the 2011 Goderich tornado, the 2013 Alberta floods and Toronto floods, and the 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires.

Sheri has provided expert accounting evidence in courts across Ontario, has been appointed as an Appraiser, and has assisted in mediations.

Sheri has presented countless seminars on both general and forensic accounting topics. She has also published articles on economic damage quantification.

She is a graduate of Waterloo University, where she received a Bachelor of Mathematics in Management Accounting with an Information Systems option. Sheri also holds her Certified Management Accountant and Chartered Professional Accountant designations and is Certified in Financial Forensics.

Cameron McQuaid

Cameron joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ London, Ontario office in 2010. He is currently a Senior Manager/Vice President in the firm’s Toronto office.

Cameron’s practice concentrates primarily on first-party commercial property claims, construction delay claims, product recalls, personal injury, commercial litigation and general liability.

His insurance accounting assignments have included business interruption and extra expense claims, property damage, stock and contents, downtime loss, general liability, accident benefits for employed and self-employed individuals. His litigation assignments have involved personal injury, loss of profits and financial condition analysis.

His industry experience includes, but is not limited to, construction, power generation, oil and gas, mining, hotels and hospitality, food processing, manufacturing, various retail outlets, trucking, professional services and rental properties.

He has assisted on high-profile catastrophe disasters. He was on-site after Hurricane Irma and Maria in 2017 in the Caribbean Islands and following the Alberta floods in 2013.

Cameron has testified as an expert witness for multiple private appraisals under the Insurance Act.

Cameron has published articles for Insurance People magazine, Canadian Underwriter magazine, The Lawyer’s Daily and USLAW Magazine. He has also presented in seminars and workshops to both insurers and law firms on business interruption, accident benefits and understanding financial statements.

He is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of Canada, the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

He earned his Bachelor of Management and Organizational Studies degree from the University of Western Ontario (now Western University).

Jason Uloswceh

Jason began his career at MDD Forensic Accountants’ Chicago office in 1998. He is currently a Partner at the firm.

Jason specializes in the measurement of economic damages related to business interruption, lost profits, construction defects & claims, products liability & recall and business disputes. He also has significant experience in the area of catastrophe services, having worked on assignments resulting from 9/11, the Gulf Coast hurricanes and more recently, worldwide earthquakes and flooding.

Jason has experience in a number of industries, including manufacturing, oil & gaspower generation, food processing and agribusiness.

He is regularly engaged to provide litigation support services and expert witness testimony.

Jason has conducted numerous seminars and training sessions on various forensic accounting topics.

He graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor of Science in Accountancy.  

Ephraim Stulberg

Ephraim specializes in the areas of business valuation, economic loss quantification and investigative accounting. He has provided expert evidence in court and at arbitration. He has worked on matters across Canada, as well as the United States, Europe, South America, the Middle East and Asia.

Ephraim has prepared economic loss quantification reports involving intellectual property infringement, professional negligence, breach of contract, physical damage and personal injury. He has completed numerous assignments involving first-party and third-party insurance coverage and leads MDD Canada’s cyber insurance loss group.

Ephraim has provided business valuation reports in a variety of contexts, including contractual and shareholder disputes, expropriation, physical damage, matrimonial disputes, income tax reporting, corporate reorganizations, bankruptcy, as well as in the negotiated purchase and sale of companies or shares.

Ephraim has conducted financial investigations in the context of partnership and shareholder disputes and estate disputes and has also investigated numerous employee thefts.

Ephraim has experience in a wide variety of industries, including oil and gas, construction, power generation, computer software, franchising, manufacturing, real estate, media/communications, professional services and medical supplies/healthcare.

Ephraim is a frequent contributor to various financial and legal publications. He has published numerous pieces in Lawyers Weekly, Lawyer’s Daily and Law Times, and has authored or co-authored numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals, including the CICBV’s Journal of Business Valuation, the American Bar Association’s Franchise Law Journal, and the Canadian Intellectual Property Review. He received an award from the Ontario Bar Association in 2014 for one of his publications. He is a past member of the CICBV’s Publications and Research Committee. He was named the CICBV’s “Communicator of the Year” in 2019.

Ephraim has delivered presentations for the Ontario Bar Association, the Canadian Franchise Association, the Canadian Defence Lawyers, the Intellectual Property Institute of Canada, the Toronto Intellectual Property Group, the Ontario Expropriation Association, the CBV Institute, the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, as well as to various individual law firms and corporations in Ontario, Nova Scotia, Saskatchewan and British Columbia.

Jarrett Reaume

Jarrett joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Toronto office in 2011. In 2012, he moved to Halifax to open the firm’s Atlantic Canada office. He is a Partner/Senior Vice President at this location.

Jarrett has been involved in hundreds of investigations involving the quantification of economic damages in insurance and litigation matters. These assignments have been related to business interruption, expropriation, stock & contents, product liability & recall, business valuations and personal injury & wrongful death. He also has strong forensic accounting experience in the area of family law and a solid understanding of taxation and assurance.

Jarrett has been engaged across a wide range of industries, including: retail and wholesale, agriculture, aquaculture, forestry, mining, construction, hotel, travel, power generation, professional practices, residential and commercial rental properties, trucking, transportation, manufacturing, communications, not-for-profit, co-operatives and restaurants.

Jarrett has provided expert testimony before the Supreme Court of Nova Scotia, the Court of King’s Bench of New Brunswick and at arbitration in Ontario. In addition, he has testified at examination for discovery and supplied litigation support to numerous MDD clients.

Matt Mulholland

Matt is a Partner/Senior Vice President in MDD Forensic Accountants’ Toronto office and is the Managing Partner of the Toronto, Kingston, and Ottawa offices.  He is one of the leaders of the firm’s litigation services practice and has provided expert witness testimony before the Superior Court of Ontario and the Supreme Court of the State of New York.

He has over twenty years of experience in the areas of economic loss quantification and forensic/investigative accounting.

Matt has extensive experience in the areas of personal injury and wrongful death. He has prepared expert reports on behalf of both plaintiffs and defendants specializing in the valuation of past & future income losses, dependency losses, pension losses as well as the present value of future care costs. The valuations prepared in these assignments have been related to a wide variety of occupations (including both employed and self-employed individuals) as well as minors.

Matt has been retained to provide investigative accounting reports in a variety of civil matters.

Matt has been engaged to quantify economic losses in numerous industries such as power generation, construction, commercial retail, agriculture, general & heavy manufacturing as well as a variety of professional services.

He has presented numerous workshops and seminars on a wide range of forensic accounting topics.

Matt graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with an Honours Bachelor in Business Administration degree. He received his Diploma in Investigative and Forensic Accounting at the University of Toronto.

Reinhard Krestel

Reinhard joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Chicago office in 2000. He is a Partner at the firm.

Reinhard’s practice concentrates on economic damage quantification and accounting investigations related to lost profits, business interruption, physical damages, construction defects & claims, products liability & recall, shareholder disputes and personal injury, wrongful death & wrongful termination matters. Additionally, he has extensive experience in the area of catastrophe services, earned while assessing the economic damages resulting from 9/11, the Gulf Coast hurricanes and the earthquakes and flooding in Japan and Thailand.

Reinhard has worked on assignments of all sizes around the world, in industries such as automotive, chemical production, steel manufacturing, healthcare, hotel, agribusiness, food processing, professional services and retail and wholesale.

Eric Ficken

Eric joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ St. Louis office in 1993. He is a Partner at the firm.

Eric is a highly trained forensic accounting professional and has years of experience in litigation support services performing business valuation and quantifying economic damages related to business disputes, personal injury & wrongful death and construction litigation.  He has provided expert witness testimony in state courts, mediations and arbitrations.

Eric has years of experience in the calculation of business interruption, lost profits, physical damages, fraud and investigations, extra expenses and stock & contents matters.

In addition, he has worked in the catastrophe services area, assisting in the measurement of damages that occurred as a result of 9/11, Hurricanes Katrina, Charley and Rita and various floods.

Eric has been engaged on assignments across a wide range of businesses and industries including base and precious metal mining, steel and aluminum manufacturing, hotels and resorts, retail and wholesale, commercial rental properties, construction and cement manufacturing.

He has conducted seminars for industry professionals on basic accounting principles, business valuation and loss of income.

Kristine Elkind

Kristine joined MDD’s Orlando office in 2000. She is a Partner at the firm.

Kristine’s expertise includes the quantification of economic damages related to lost profits, business interruption, extra expenses, construction claims related to builders’ risk, defects, contractor disputes & project delays, stock & contents, products liability & recall, personal injury & wrongful deathfidelity claims and fraud.

Kristine routinely provides litigation support services to clients and has served as an expert witness in both state and Federal cases and provided testimony at deposition and trial. Kristine has also served as an appraiser in insurance claim disputes.

Much of Kristine’s work has been in the area of catastrophe services. She has handled hundreds of assignments resulting from tropical storms and hurricanes in the Caribbean and the East and Gulf Coasts of the U.S., as well as claims involving tornadoes, floods and earthquakes.

Kristine has significant experience involving distributors, franchises, professional services, and retail & manufacturing operations. She also has experience in automotive, agriculture, aviation, banking, commercial and residential rental properties, construction, hospitality, healthcare, food services, tourism, transportation and a wide range of other industries.

She has presented seminars on business interruption, financial motive, stock & contents, lost profits, asset misappropriation, mortgage fraud and auto liability claims.

Kristine previously served on the Board of Directors for the Florida Advisory Committee on Arson Prevention.

She graduated from the University of Central Florida with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration.

Karl Ehlert

Karl has been with MDD Forensic Accountants’ Los Angeles office for more than 15 years.  He is a Partner at the firm.

He has vast experience quantifying economic damages related to business interruption, physical damages, fidelity claims, construction defects & claims and builders’ risk & soft costs. He has also worked extensively in the catastrophe services area, assessing losses stemming from natural disasters such as the Northridge earthquake and hurricanes Frances, Jeanne, Ivan, Katrina and Sandy. 

Karl has worked on numerous engagements that involve fund tracing and the quantification of lost assets resulting from employee theft, inventory fraud and other incidents.

His industry experience includes agriculture, entertainment, hospitality, gaming, power generation and manufacturing.

Karl has been retained as an expert witness for cases in both state and federal court and has given deposition and court testimony as well as assisted attorneys with discovery requests and trial preparation.

He graduated from California State University Northridge with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Finance.

Jonathan Ducey

Jon joined MDD’s Boston office in 1997. In 2003, he moved to open the firm’s office in Portland, Maine. He is a Partner at this location.

Jon has been involved in hundreds of engagements requiring the evaluation and quantification of economic damages, including business interruption and physical damages. He is frequently hired on fidelity claims and matters involving fraud and investigations.

Jon has also been retained by both Plaintiffs and Defendants to evaluate lost earnings capacity, lost profits, lost business value, extra expenses/increased costs, and other economic losses resulting from business disputes, personal injury & wrongful death, physical damages, product liability & recall, and subrogation.

Jon has been engaged as an expert witness for cases in both Federal and State courts.  He has provided testimony in Federal Court and State Superior Courts in Maine and Pennsylvania along with depositions, arbitrations, and mediations.

He has worked on assignments in the manufacturing, mercantile, hotel, hospitality, automotive, construction, pulp and paper, real estate, and power generation industries.

Jon has presented numerous seminars on business interruption losses, reported insurance values, fidelity claims, personal injury & wrongful death damages, and other forensic accounting topics.

He is a Director on the Boards of the Scarborough Education Foundation and Scarborough Soccer Club.  Jon has been a volunteer income tax preparer with the United Way of Greater Portland.

Jon graduated from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Matthew Woodcock

Matthew joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 2000. He is a Partner at the firm’s Minneapolis office and has been a forensic accountant for over 30 years.

During his career, Matt has analyzed economic damages related to publicly held companies and privately-owned businesses of all sizes.  He has analyzed thousands of losses that have ranged in value from $5,000 to more than $500 million.

Matt’s professional practice has concentrated on quantifying economic damages related to lost profitsintellectual propertyproduct liabilityfidelitybusiness interruption, incremental costs, property damages, subrogation and lost wages for personal injury & wrongful death matters.

Matt has worked on assignments spanning a wide range of industries including retail, wholesale, manufacturing, professional services, power generation, biofuels, transportation, pulp and paper as well as numerous others.

He has provided expert witness testimony in both federal and state courts and also served as an accounting expert in mediation, appraisal, arbitration and other similar matters.

Matt has conducted and attended several seminars and workshops on topics such as lost profits, business interruption, lost wages and inventory losses.

He graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and Business Administration.

George Uhl

George joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Philadelphia office in 1998. He also worked in MDD Washington DC and Parsippany, New Jersey offices prior to moving to the firm’s Dallas location in 2011. He is a Partner at the firm and is the Managing Partner of the southwest region.

George specializes in business interruption losses, physical damages, employee fraud, extra expenses, construction claims, stock and contents, fidelity losses and third party matters. He also has experience quantifying catastrophe service losses. 

George has been involved in numerous cases across a wide range of industries.

He has served as both a fact and expert witness and has assisted counsel in the preparation and response of interrogatories and requests for documents. In addition, he has prepared expert reports, and provided analysis and testimony in support of his findings and on opposing expert’s findings.

George has co-authored articles on subjects such as occupational fraud that have appeared on websites such as uslaw.org and he has presented seminars to insurance clients on topics such as builders’ risk, business interruption, extra expense and insurable values. 

George received his Masters of Business Administration from Philadelphia University. He also graduated from the University of Connecticut with a Bachelor of Arts in Economics.

Suzanne Tarchala

Suzanne, a Partner since 2008, founded the Detroit office of MDD Forensic Accountants in 2000.

Suzanne has more than 25 years experience helping attorneys, business owners and other professionals understand complex financial information in the context of insurance claims, litigation, arbitration and mediation.

She has applied her skill, knowledge, education and training in the following areas: property damage and business income loss claims, financial investigations, disability income claims, lost profits, employment disputes, personal injury and wrongful death, product recall and product liability.

Suzanne has had exposure to a wide variety of industries and business types. She has substantial experience in the automotive industry and businesses that support the automotive industry, including steel, supply chain companies, original equipment manufacturers, aftermarket sales, automotive repairs and automobile dealerships.

Suzanne has assisted in the representation of plaintiffs and defendants in numerous litigated matters and has served as an expert witness in both Federal and State courts.

She has also served as a Federal court appointed Mediator and has been appointed as an Appraiser and Umpire in insurance related disputes.

Suzanne is Chair of the Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA) Women’s Initiatives Task Force. She is also an Executive Board Member of All the World’s A Stage, a non-profit organization that teaches life skills through theatre arts education.

She has presented seminars and other training events to a wide variety of audiences on various forensic accounting topics. She has authored and been cited in forensic accounting related articles.

Suzanne graduated summa cum laude from the University of Detroit with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting. She is a Certified Public Accountant and holds the Certified in Financial Forensics designation awarded by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Scott Schellenberg

Scott joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Toronto office in 2005. He opened the Calgary location in 2006 and the Edmonton location in 2011. He is a Partner/Senior Vice President and Managing Partner of our Calgary and Edmonton offices. He is a key member of MDD’s Global Energy team and Global Executive Committee and is Canada’s regional Oil & Gas Coordinator.

Scott has practiced exclusively in litigation supportbusiness valuation and forensic accounting for more than 20 years.  This work has included breach of contract, shareholder disputes, expropriationdivorce & marital disputesfraudcatastrophe servicespersonal injury & wrongful deathproduct liability & product recall, business interruptionextra expensesbuilders’ risk claims & soft cost claimsstock & contents, and physical damages. He also has extensive experience in the catastrophe services area, managing MDD’s response to claims that occurred as a result of the 2011 Slave Lake wildfire, 2013 Alberta floods and 2016 Fort McMurray wildfires.

Scott’s assignments have encompassed a broad range of industries including oil & gaspower generation and distribution, agriculture, automotive, food and beverage manufacturing, construction, chemical manufacturing, hotels and resortsshipping/ transportation industries, real estate, retail and wholesale.

In addition to qualifying as an expert witness and providing testimony in The Alberta Court of King’s Bench, he has provided mediation and arbitration services and acted as an Appraiser under the Insurance Act.

He has conducted numerous seminars and workshops on the subject of economic damage quantification.

Scott graduated from the University of British Columbia with a Bachelor of Commerce degree. He received his Diploma in Investigative and Forensic Accounting from the University of Toronto.

Brad Ryden

Brad joined MDD Forensic Accountants over 30 years ago and is the managing partner of the firm’s Philadelphia office.  He has been a partner since 1997.

His practice focuses primarily on the investigation and evaluation of economic damage sustained due to physical damages, casualty loss and business interruption. Brad also has extensive knowledge in the areas of builders’ risk, extra expenses, products liability, third party disputes, and financial analyses of arson cases.

As a licensed CPA in Pennsylvania, and Texas, he has worked on behalf of his clients in a wide variety of industries, including: steel, utilities / green energy, pulp and paper, glass manufacturing, hotel and hospitality, gaming, restaurants, retail and wholesale, consumer goods manufacturing and petrochemicals. He has quantified damages related to the operations of Fortune 500 companies, as well as small to mid-size corporations and sole proprietorships. 

Brad has a wealth of experience providing litigation support. He has provided deposition testimony over 40 times. He has been qualified as an expert on numerous occasions in both Federal and state courts, performing loss of profits evaluations and testifying in subrogation cases. He has also been hired by the United States Department of Justice for an arson investigation as well as a case involving ability to pay.

He has conducted seminars for industry professionals on business interruption, builders’ risk, overhead costs in inventory and business interruption value reporting.

Brad received his Bachelors of Business Administration with an emphasis in accounting from  Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois.

Glenn Ricciardelli

Glenn joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Boston office in 1979. He became a Partner at the firm in 1986.

Glenn has been involved in over 2,000 economic damage quantification, valuation and litigation engagements in the U.S., Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean. He has worked on assessments ranging from $5,000 to $750 million. 

Glenn has assisted publicly-held companies and privately-owned businesses of all sizes. His practice areas include business interruption, lost profits, marital disputesstock & contents, builder’s risk & soft costs, products liability & recall, employee dishonesty / fidelity claims, fraud & financial condition, construction, personal injury, wrongful death & wrongful termination and business valuation.

Glenn has provided expert witness testimony in U.S. Federal court as well state courts in Louisiana, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York and Wisconsin. He has also been retained as a referee, appraiser or umpire on ADR and arbitration cases.

He has conducted seminars on a wide range of forensic accounting topics for clients.

Glenn is a former Director of the Needham Bank and a member of its finance and audit committees. He is also Treasurer and Director of Birthday Wishes Inc., a non-profit organization that provides birthday parties to homeless children in shelters in Massachusetts, Rhode Island and New York, as well as Junior Achievement of Northern New England, which provides financial literacy educational programs and job skills to young people.

Glenn graduated with distinction from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

Martin Pavelic

Martin is a Partner/Senior Vice President at MDD Forensic Accountant’s Hamilton office and the Managing Partner of the Hamilton, Montreal and Winnipeg offices.

He has years of experience in forensic accounting, quantifying damages in Canada, the UK, U.S., Middle East and the Caribbean. 

His practice areas include fraud, business interruption, business disputes, stock & contents, physical damages, product liability & recall, personal injury and wrongful death, contingency/entertainment insurance claims, catastrophe services and fidelity claims. Martin has also been engaged in numerous appraisal cases and has security clearance at the Enhanced Reliability Level.

Martin has broad experience in agriculture, automotive, cable/broadcasting, chemical manufacturing, restaurants, healthcare, hotels and resorts, mining, oil and gas, pulp and paper, retail and wholesale, telecommunications and construction industries. In addition, he has vast experience in the power generation sector.

He has provided litigation support and expert testimony in fidelity, commercial disputes and business income loss matters before the Supreme Court of Ontario, Superior Court of Quebec and in the Federal Court of Canada.

Martin has conducted numerous seminars and workshops for a variety of industry professionals.

He is a graduate of McMaster University where he received a Bachelor of Commerce degree.

Brian Mohlenhoff

Brian joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 1994. He is a partner at the firm’s New Jersey office in Parsippany. 

A licensed CPA in both New Jersey and New York, Brian’s practice focuses primarily on business interruption. He uses his years of experience, keen investigative techniques and extensive knowledge of business, operational and manufacturing processes to accurately quantify and measure losses on behalf of his clients.

Brian has been retained on thousands of engagements, covering businesses ranging in size from sole proprietorships to Fortune 500 companies. He has worked on business interruption claims for losses under $5,000 as well as those in excess of $300 million.

Brian has offered expert witness testimony – related to accounting and damage evaluation – in various state courts.

Brian has co-authored articles on subjects such as occupational fraud that have appeared on websites such as uslaw.org, and he regularly conducts seminars for clients on topics such as business interruption and rental losses.

Active in the community, Brian serves as Chief Financial Officer for the Healing Haiti Fund.   

He is a graduate of the University of Scranton where he received his Bachelor of Science in Accounting.

Daniel Markowicz

Dan has been at MDD Forensic Accountants for over 30 years. His first eleven years were spent in the firm’s Chicago office and he has managed the Los Angeles location since 1995.

Dan is skilled at analyzing financial and operating data to help determine and verify economic losses. During his career, he has provided economic damage quantification assessments for a wide range of clients on matters relating to stock & contents, construction defects & claims, fraud, product liability and recall, fidelity claims, personal injury, wrongful death & wrongful termination. 

Throughout his career, Dan has provided litigation support offering his expertise during the discovery process and the development of expert reports. In addition, he has given expert witness testimony during depositions and proceedings in various state courts.

Dan is a frequent presenter – at both in-house and industry events – on the subjects of accounting for commercial property losses and loss of income.

Dan is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Accounting.

Peter Karutz

Peter joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 1983. Ten years later, he became a Partner and currently works out of the St. Louis office. Peter is also the Team Leader of MDD’s Cyber Practice Group.

He has extensive experience quantifying economic damages for arbitrations and contractual disputes and has been qualified to serve as an expert witness in Federal courts in Missouri and Kansas. He has also assisted with depositions and discoveries in Pennsylvania, New York, Kentucky, Illinois, North Dakota, Minnesota and Missouri.

He specializes in matters related to lost profits, business interruption, physical damages, oil & gas, cyber risks, power generation, mining, stock & contents, catastrophe services and fraud.

Peter has worked on numerous projects both in the U.S. and abroad. His experience spans a wide range of industries including automotive, retail, grain processing and transportation, banking, ethanol, synthetic gas, biomass plants, fisheries, aerospace manufacturing, hotels and hospitality and entertainment

With a working knowledge of Spanish, he assisted in the measurement of damages that occurred as a result of the 2010 Chile earthquakes. Additionally, he assisted in the quantification, verification and analysis of damages that resulted from 9/11, Hurricane Katrina and the government closure of auto dealerships.

Peter has spoken to groups such as the American Bar Association, Lloyd’s of London Syndicates and Xchanging on forensic accounting topics such as Cyber Fraud. 

He serves on the Board of Directors of a number of charities and not-for-profit organizations and is an active member of the Knights of Columbus and Knights of Peter Claver. Peter is also president of the St. Louis chapter of Legatus.

He is a graduate of Loyola University of Chicago where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree.

Mark Gain

Mark joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ Toronto office in 2004. Prior to joining MDD, Mark was a partner at a large national accounting firm.  He is the practice leader for litigation services in Canada and is a Partner/Senior Vice President at the firm.

With more than 30 years’ forensic accounting expertise, Mark has conducted over 2000 investigations. Some of the areas he’s worked in include loss of income, expropriations damage quantifications, fraud and employee defalcations, intellectual property assessments involving patents & copyrights, personal injury & wrongful death, breach of contract and product liability & recall.

Mark’s assignments have covered a wide range of industries including automotive, power generation, mining and refining, steel manufacturing, oil and gas, construction, chemical manufacturing, hotels and resorts, retail and wholesale and transportation.  

Mark provides litigation support in business disputes, shareholder and partner disputes and business income loss matters. He has provided expert testimony before the Superior Court of Ontario, The Alberta Court of the King’s Bench, The Supreme Court of Nova Scotia and in the Federal Court of Canada – as well as expert testimony on the financial viability of an entity’s operations in both criminal and civil proceedings. 

Mark has acted on numerous occasions as an Appraiser under the Insurance Act and has been appointed to act as Umpire. He has also been appointed by the RCMP and Anti-Rackets Section of the Ontario Provincial Police to oversee in-house forensic accounting services.

He is a much sought after speaker and seminar leader on the subject of business interruption and loss of income claims.

Mark received his Bachelor of Commerce degree from McMaster University where he graduated summa cum laude.

John Foley

John joined MDD Forensic Accountants’ New York office in 1981. As one of the firm’s senior partners, he is a long-time member of MDD’s U.S. and Global Executive Committees. 

John is a forensic and investigative accounting professional with over 40 years of experience. He is an expert at quantifying damages as they apply to business interruption, extra expenses, physical damages, fraud, products liability & recall, lost profits and catastrophe services matters.

John has been involved in engagements in a wide range of industries such as chemical manufacturing, construction, mining, entertainment, steel, food processing, lumber, telecommunications, petrochemicals, pharmaceuticals, medical services and energy.

John has provided expert witness testimony in Federal and state courts and has assisted lawyers in breach of contract cases and arbitrations.

He has conducted seminars and workshops on numerous topics such as insurance values.

John is a graduate of Pace University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree. 

Jack Flaherty

Jack joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 1990. He is currently a Partner at the firm’s Hartford office.

Jack has quantified economic damages for claims of all sizes – from those well in excess of $10 million to losses amounting to under $1 million. 

He specializes in a wide range of practice areas including lost profits, construction defects & claims, builders’ risk & soft costs, stock & contents, fraud, concealment & misrepresentation, products liability & recallpersonal injury & wrongful death and marital dissolution.

Jack has served as an expert witness and has provided litigation support services for matters related to business income, inventory value, personal earnings, disputed commissions and legal malpractice.

He has presented seminars on topics such as fraud, business income, extra expense and inventory losses.

Jack is a graduate of Babson College where he received his Bachelor of Science degree.

Brad Ebel

Brad has over 30 years of experience in forensic accounting and economic damage quantification assessments and leads the firm’s global mining practice. To read Brad’s mining bio please click here.

He has conducted or been involved in, over 2,000 assignments across a wide range of industries in Canada and around the world.  These industries include mining and refining, oil and gas, power generation and distribution, construction, steel and aluminum, hotels and resorts, forest products industries and agriculture. He has also quantified economic damages in transportation matters arising from train derailments, aircraft manufacturing losses, marine fire losses and cargo evaluations. 

Brad’s practice areas include fraud and investigations, business interruption, entertainment contingency claims, product liability & recall, personal injury and wrongful death, and fidelity claims.

He has provided litigation support and economic damage quantification in matters involving business income loss, physical damage and property loss, bodily injury economic loss and third party loss quantification and has provided expert testimony on these matters before the Ontario Superior Court of Justice and the King’s Bench of New Brunswick. 

Brad has been appointed as an Appraiser under the Insurance Act and provided expert evidence at Appraisal hearings on numerous occasions.

He has been a guest speaker and seminar leader on many occasions on economic loss and damage topics such as business interruption and loss of income.

Brad is a graduate of the University of Waterloo, where he received a Bachelor of Mathematics degree with a Chartered Accountancy option. He joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 1984 and became a Partner with the firm in 1990. He serves as President of MDD Canada.

Gerry Bouwman

Gerry Bouwman is the Global Strategy & Development Partner. In this role, he works with global clients to understand their needs and ensure that MDD’s unrivalled team of global forensic accounting experts meets their demands.

An internationally respected expert in his own right, Gerry joined MDD Forensic Accountants in 1993. Over that time, he has assisted clients with economic damage quantification and litigation support matters related to business interruption losses, extra expenses, construction defects, physical damages, contingency/entertainment, products liability & recall, lost profits, catastrophe services, business disputes, and cyber-attacks.

His industry expertise encompasses automotive, aviation, construction, all types of manufacturing, entertainment, hotels & resorts, retail, wholesale, and transportation. Notably, Gerry has worked on many assignments in power generation, mining & refining, and steel processing.

He has served as an accounting expert in arbitrations, mediations, and appraisals and rendered expert reports for matters in Canada, the United States, the Caribbean, South America, and Europe.

Gerry has authored articles on topics such as business interruption that have appeared in publications such as Claims Canada. He has also conducted numerous seminars and workshops on many issues related to economic damage quantification.

Before taking on his current position, Gerry was a Partner/Senior Vice President for MDD’s Canadian entity. In this capacity, he served as the Canadian Director of Business Development & Marketing and Canadian CAT Coordinator. He was also a member of MDD’s Global Catastrophe Team and the firm’s Global Executive Committee. He currently has a key role on MDD’s Global Energy team.
